How to Make Pinterest Fun, Easy, and Productive for Your Business
Pinterest really can be easy, fun, AND help you make a ton of money. I have used Pinterest to grow my business to a six figure revenue and $50,000+ a year. Starting Wednesday, August 26th, I’m hosing a live Pinterest Course. I would love to have you LIVE to learn all about Pinterest and how you can use it to actually make money.

In 2015 I started sharing some pictures to Pinterest for my invitation business. I didn't know there was a business account option, I didn't have a strategy, I just uploaded a few [low-quality iphone] pictures.
What followed in the coming years I never could have expected. Millions of views, thousands of saves and clicks, and more orders than I could handle. By millions of views, ONE of my pins had over 1,000,000 impressions. 😳
I remember sitting at my desk thinking, "what would happen if I actually tried. What if I knew what I was doing" (because again, NO idea how to use this app as a business at this point).
I read everything I could get my hands on. I listened to podcasts. I experimented. The more I learned, the more impressions, saves, clicks, and purchases I got.
Fast forward to 2020; If you search for wedding invitations on Pinterest, you'll see my pins. Get more specific, and I dominate. It's still the source for at least 50% of my traffic and sales. Not just traffic, but SALES.
I’m making 6-figures in sales, and half from Pinterest means:
$50,000+ a year in sales and daily email opt-ins.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a more automated source of revenue? Anyone can do this. What I teach in all my free and paid courses is something anyone can do--I've done it in both the product world with my invitations and now in the digital service space with my blogs and digital courses and ebooks.
I’m going to run through and just highlight the basics, how to make it fun, but most of the content is how to make it EASY!
Set Up a Business Account
It's easy! When you switch to a business account, you get so many statistics that will be helpful in growing your audience, offerings, and to what pins are working (and not working).
If you need help setting up your account, I have a free course for that! Check out the free email course here.
It's not Social Media
It's a search engine.
Take the pressure off yourself, and just start pinning! It's no surprise that, like every other algorithm, it wants you to be active, right? I pin every single day! That probably sounds like a lot. But there's an app for that called Tailwind (more on that later).
I hope the fact that is it not social media, will take off some of the pressure!
Pin your shit!
My whole strategy is to get MY products and services found and pinned. One million monthly viewers means nothing if it's not going to YOUR content. If you want to make money from Pinterest, it’s probably no surprise that you have to pin, right!?
1. Just Start!
You're going to want to have a strategy to get your pins in front of people, but start with PINNING THINGS YOU LOVE.
What do you love? Don't stress, just start being active today, and pin somethings you love! I know I said you need to pin your stuff (still true), but you have to start somewhere. If that means just sharing a few things, you like to get the thang of it, great.
Just start.
2. Only Make Pins When you Feel Creative.
I don't force anything in my business. I only make pins a few times a year when I am feeling creative.
Just as you wouldn't create a product line when you're uninspired or not feeling it, do the same with Pinterest.
I use Tailwind to schedule them out for the months that I am not feeling creative (more on coming!)
3. Make it a Game.
I love a little competition.
What Motivates you?
How could you make it a fun game that FEELS GOOD?
IDEA #1: Race the clock.
Set a timer. What can you do in 20, 30, or 60 mins? No emails, no texts, nothing but working on the task at hand for a short period of time. You'll probably be surprised to see how much you can get done, and hopefully, you'll feel great about it too!
Idea #2: Raise your stats.
These babies can jump up FAST, and it's addicting to watch! Don't put too much pressure on yourself, though. As soon as it stops being fun, find something else to make it fun.
4. Celebrate.
Set goals, CELEBRATE THEM! Life is way more fun that way ;)
Set goals. Crush them. Celebrate them. Repeat.
Here are three lesser-known tips to help you up to your Pinterest game right now (that are EASY!)
Image Size.
Listen, 2:3 ration statistically is going to get you more results because it's on the screen in front of them longer. But if you're not pinning because all you have is square images, for example, that's not a good enough reason not to pin. Check out this blog post where I share by you SHOULD share all sizes of pins, not just the tall one.
If you're designing your own, and you have the pics, totally 100% always recommend 2:3 ratio. But, your Instagram pictures can be pinned, too, which brings me to my next point.
Repurpose
Use your content more than once. Here are some examples of how I share my content!
Instagram 👉 Pinterest
Instagram posts with longer, educational captions 👉 Blog post 👉 Pinterst (p.s. that is this blog. find the insta post here.)
TikTok videos 👉 Pinterest
Instagram story videos 👉 Pinterest
Youtube channel 👉 Share to Pinterest
Facebook Post 👉 Pinterest
Product Photos from a website and Etsy 👉 Pinterest
Do you see what I mean?
Look at all the things you can share to Pinterest. I've noticed a lot of people put a lot of pressure on their pins. A random dark phot can do just as well as a professionally created one. Pinterest is a wild world, pin it all.
I bet you have more content than you think...start to pin it.
Make Multiple Pins.
Have a youtube channel you want to promote? Make multi pins per each of your videos. This goes for any platform. For my blog posts, I will use different images and titles for the same post to reach different people. There are a lot of things that made my business what it is today, but I can confidently say it would be worse off if I was not using Pinterest.
For starters, it's helped me start another business (this blog), teaching people how to skyrocket their stats and start actually making money from it.
Automate it.
I only work on Pinterest 4 times a year, and it brings in $50,000+ in revenue for me. HALF my orders come from Pinterest! Tailwind literally does all the work for you. It allows me to work on it only when I want (a few times a year), and pins for me every day of the year. It's easy and affordable and SOOOO worth the money. I know, adding another monthly subscription was the last thing I wanted, too!
Pinterest really can be fun AND easy AND make you a fuck ton of money.
