How I Grew My Etsy Without Instagram

 HOMEWORK

If you want to grow your Etsy, focus on Etsy. Here are some things you can do:

  • Update your listings

  • Don't constantly update your listing and tags.

    • Give it time. It's not instant *usually*.

  • Update your pictures.

  • Get familiar with your stats (the good and bad)

    • Look at your Etsy stats. What are your best and worst listings? How can you bridge the gap between them. What can you take form your best listing and add to your worst one?

  • Update your about section

  • Update your announcement

    1. Set an alarm or put it on your calendar to update

    2. OR don’t update it at all. Have a generic announcement

  • Add new listings

  • Follow up with leads.

❓QUESTIONS

  • Ask yourself, what can I do to build confidence in my products?

  • How can you build confidence?

  • How can you eliminate questions?

  • How can you anticipate needs?

⚙️ Create systems

  • What is already not working at the level, you're at?

  • What do you need in place to be able to handle 2x+ the number of orders?

  • What would make it all a little easier?

  • Do the homework from the Systems Video!

🧠 Instagram mindset

  • What don't you like about Instagram?

  • Is it true? Meaning, if it makes you feel bad, is the reason real? A lot of times, it's our imagination and limiting beliefs that we can change :)

  • What would make Insta feel better?

    • How can you do more of that?

  • What "rules" can you make?

  • Instagram is a tool. What tools do you LIKE using the most? How can you use more of those tools?

What do you want to grow? That should be what you focus on. Where our attention goes, it grows. If you want to grow your etsy, work on Etsy. Working on your Instagram to grow your Etsy is more steps than you need. Start with Etsy.

  • What could you do today to help your etsy without using instagram?

AFFIRMATIONS:

  • Ask other people what people would search for.

  • Avoid industry jargon.

Fill in as much as you can on the listing > Attributes. Any options that you can fill out that apply to you, do it.

How to Make Your Shop Visually Appealing (and Build Trust!)

 HOMEWORK

🤝 We are building TRUST.

How can we convey that we are real people, trustworthy, and want to help people. How can you make the following things encompass more TRUST.

  1. Listings

  2. Pictures

  3. Reviews (when was the last time you asked for reviews 👀)

⭐️ USE FEATURED ITEMS.

You can do without etsy plus.

Add featured listings > Listing STAR at bottom. You can feature 4 is your not using Etsy Plus, 5 if you are using Etsy Plus

*Gives you control over what you see first always

🛍 Notice your own shopping patterns…

  • What stands out to you?

  • What do you look for when you're shopping?

  • What do you like and dislike?

  • What do you pay attention to?

  • How can you incorporate that?

  • Are your sections easy to use?

  • How could you make them more user-friendly?

📸 Pictures:

How could you make your pictures more appealing?

Keep your background image the SAME or similar. You don't want to have brick, tile, wood, concrete, fur, carpet, solid colors, etc. ALL listed. It is overwhelming.

  • How can you simplify and use just a few backgrounds?

  • Pick a background you like, maybe a few.

  • Use Consistent Lighting

    • Find natural light.

    • Avoid yellow-y overhead lights

  • Make Presets

  • Use Mockups to change it up

  • Have one with a hand

📸 How to make a Lightroom preset:

  1. Download & open Lightroom

  2. Edit a picture

  3. At the bottom, click preset

  4. In the top corner, click the three dots

  5. Select Create Preset

AFFIRMATIONS:

✨  I don’t need perfect pictures to sell my products.

✨  My shop doesn’t have to be perfect to sell my products.

✨  My products sell themselves.

Everything is working all the time.

Creating Systems for Your Etsy Shop

 HOMEWORK

Brainstorm:

  1. Off the top of your head, brain dump (make a quick list, no judgement, no strategy, just a list): What systems do you WANT to make your life and business easier?

  2. Look at your business:

    1. Where are these errors?

    2. What was the last issue that you had?

    3. How could it have been avoided?

    4. What are some possible solutions? (make a list, there are endless solutions!)

Standard Operating Procedures.

  1. What SOPs can you add for your business?

  2. What are things you have to look up a lot or check a lot?

  3. What things do you do all the time that you could potentially have someone else do? (even if you’re not ready to hire), this is a great place to start.

  4. Where do you want your SOP’s to live? What would be the EASIEST for you?

    1. I use Slite (https://slite.com) It’s free! If you love Google, you can do this there, too (or in apple notes, etc.)

Some Tasks that I have listed out step by step how to do:

  • How to refund on stripe

  • How to cancel an order on Etsy

  • Sending invoices

  • Making Etsy Listings

  • Adding things to my website

  • Check lists

  • How to execute specific tasks in my business

  • Etc.

Other SOPs I love to have...

  • Pricing

    • ALL my pricing for everything. Every time someone asks for something random and specific, I write it there so I can refer back to it a year later when someone else asks.

  • Color Codes

  • Canned responds

    • All the FAQs in a normal convo copy and paste form

  • All your FAQ.

  • All your policies. EVERYTHING. So that you can have those on your Etsy, your website, your contract, etc. Have a place for all your standard ways of working.

  1. What would be beneficial to have all in one place?

  2. Is there anyway to make this easier?

  3. What is taking a long time?

  4. How could you make an SOP or system around it?

How to Run Etsy Ads Without Blowing Money

**DISCLAIMER: This isn't intended to be watched first. Please note that we don't believe that ads are required to grow your Etsy shop. If your listings aren't set up well, ads won't help. Ads are an option that works for some people, but I am in no way promoting or recommending ads.**

TERMS

COGS: Cost of Good Sold: The amount that it costs you to produce this product.

Offsite Ads: Ads that Etsy runs for you off of Etsy

ROI: Return on investment: This is the amount you make back from the ad.

ROI is calculated by:

ROI-01.png

Be sure and include your costs:

Item is listed at $20, it cost $5, you spend $5 on ads the ROI is:

$20 (listed price) - $5 (COGS) - $5 (Ad Spend)  /  $5  (Ad Spend) = 2 x 100% = 200

The number you get is a fraction, multiply it by 100% to get a percent. If you get 2, this would be a 200% ROI. If you get .5, this would be a 50% ROI

HOMEWORK

Set an Ad Budget

  • Pick your best selling listings rather than ALL your listings

    • There’s a reason these listings are doing well. Let’s boost those instead of ones that aren’t doing well! You’ll have a bigger RIO

  • Monitor your stats everyday. Don’t let it make you feel bad, it’s all data you can use! Don’t make it mean anything.

Play with what might work for you. We Share what has worked for us, and we hope it’s helpful for you, but feel free to experiment.

In order to up your ad budget, you have to consistently spend your daily ad budget.

Offsite Ads

Settings > offsite ads

If you are under $10,000 in Revenue in a year, you can turn off your off site ads. Offsite ads cost 15% if you are under $10k, 12% of sale if you’re over $10k. Once you hit $10k, you cannot turn them off. (you can find this info in the settings/offsite ads).

You do not get to select which listings are advertised with offsite ads.
