WEEK TWO HOMEWORK

Keywords (pages 16-17)

  1. Do keyword research: Look on Etsy, Pinterest, Google, Etc. to see what people are searching for.

  2. Look back at your Ideal Client from last week; What are they searching for? What words might they use?

Titles (pages 17-18)

  1. Evaluate your Titles and change if necessary.

    1. Make sure the first few words are an accurate description

    2. Avoid using brand specific words or product line names that people won’t actually be searching for.

Descriptions (page 18)

  1. Make sure the first 180 characters are full of the keywords/descriptive words that people will be searching for. After that, add specific details about the item or process.

Category and Attributions (page 19)

  1. Make sure you are selecting categories that best represent what you’re selling.

Tags (page 19-21)

  1. Make sure the first 180 characters are full of the keywords/descriptive words that people will be searching for. After that, add specific details about the item or process.

  2. Don’t use tags that are the same as the category or both the singular and plural of words.

  3. Make sure you are using all 13 tags on all listings

  4. Search for your shop on Etsy and see if it’s easy to find! If not you might consider adding your shop name to the tags. Not required! I find a lot of people find me that way, though.

You can find your tags (or anyone’s tags) by scrolling all the way to the bottom of the page! The Red box here is the CATEGORIES that were chosen, so you don’t also have to tag them!

Sections (page 19)

  1. Make sections that work for your shop!

    1. Use Keywords that make sense.

    2. Consider how your ideal client links to shop, what would they prefer? What will be easy to understand?

    3. You can bulk add listings to different sections so you don’t have to do it one by one! Here is my sections, for example (also on pdf):

Pictures (pages 35-37)

  1. Use all the pictures you can.

    1. In these pages there are examples of how you can use pictures! Refer to this blog for ideas, too! https://www.twocanco.com/blog/how-to-make-twice-the-content-in-half-the-time

    2. On this listing, notice photos #2, #5-10 are all images I can use on other listings! While I don’t like to use a lot of the same pics over and over, it’s better than not using all that's offered! Things you keep in mind when you take pictures. https://www.etsy.com/listing/739848915/navy-blue-vellum-wedding-invitation

Add More Listings (page 27-29) (plus blog post above!)

  1. If you don’t have a ton of listings, add more!

    1. If you are adding a lot, I recommend slowing adding them to your shop, rather than all at once.

    2. This can be good for trying out different tags and title variations so you can experiment with what is going to work best for you.

  2. Visit this section if you want to see some examples! I have a couple listings that I list as different colors! https://www.etsy.com/shop/CZinvitations?ref=seller-platform-mcnav&section_id=27279486

Dive into your Stats (page 30)

  1. Really get into your stats to evaluate what is & isn’t working right now.

    1. What words are people currently using to find you?

    2. Where is your traffic coming from?

    3. What listings are getting the most views?

    4. What listings are getting the least views?

      1. What’s the disconnect between the two?

    5. What are you wanting to improve? Think about how you can do that!

Dive into your eRank.com (page 31)

  1. Erank is a great tool and has great suggestions! It will rank your listings and tell you which one’s really need the work.

    1. I don’t pay too much attention so SOME of their suggestions, so go with your gut. They can say not to use tags that you def should use, and they tell me my descriptions are too long but I have a lot of details people have to know, so it’s worth it. Don’t feel attacked by erank, :) just use it as a tool for seeing your areas of growth!

I realize that making all these changes to all your listings is going to be time consuming, especially if you have a lot of listings! Give yourself grace and time to get this done. You DO NOT have to have them all done by next week! If it feels like a daunting task, consider scheduling a little time each day or week to make some changes.
